How to reach Pandanus Palms, leg by leg
Every route to Pandanus Palms runs through Toondah Harbour at Cleveland, on Brisbane's bayside, and lands at Dunwich on Minjerribah. What changes is how you cross, and how you cover the twenty-two kilometres from Dunwich to Point Lookout.
The three legs of the journey
Get to Toondah Harbour, Cleveland
About 30 km from the Brisbane CBD
Both boat operators leave from the same place: Toondah Harbour, at the end of Middle Street on Emmett Drive, Cleveland. It is about 30 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD, roughly 50 minutes on Old Cleveland Road, or about 40 minutes from Brisbane Airport on the M1 with tolls.
By train, take the Cleveland line to Cleveland station, about an hour from Central. From the airport, the Airtrain runs into Central and you change there. Both operators run a free shuttle from Cleveland station and the Cleveland shops to the harbour, generally leaving shortly before each departure. Some early and late sailings are not covered, so check with the operator if you are on the first or last boat of the day.
Cross to Dunwich, with or without your car
Two operators, two different jetties at the Dunwich end. Both run every day of the year.
Stradbroke Flyer, the water taxi
Passengers only, about 25 minutes across, landing at One Mile Jetty on Yabby Street. No booking: buy a ticket at the Cleveland office or on board. This is the quick way, and the one the island bus is timed to meet.
SeaLink vehicle ferry
Takes cars, about 50 minutes across, landing at the Junner Street terminal. Book ahead, particularly in school holidays and over whale season. Walk-on passengers can travel on the vehicle ferry too.
Bringing a car, or leaving it behind
A car makes the lakes, Amity Point and the quieter western bays easier. You do not need one to stay with us: the resort is a short walk from the Point Lookout shops, cafes and beaches, and every villa has free undercover parking if you do bring one.
Your own boat
There are public boat ramps at One Mile in Dunwich and at Amity Point. You will still need to cover the road distance to Point Lookout from either.
Dunwich to Point Lookout, about twenty minutes
The resort is roughly 22 kilometres from the ferry terminals, across the island to the eastern side.
The island bus
The North Stradbroke Island Bus Service, Translink route 880, meets the water taxis at Dunwich and runs through to Amity Point and Point Lookout. Roughly hourly through the day. A handful of very early and very late boats are not met, so check the timetable if you are on one.
Door to door transfers
Stradeasy runs ferry-to-door transfers from both Dunwich terminals, plus charters for groups. Worth it with luggage, children or an awkward arrival time.
Taxi
The Stradbroke Cab Service covers the island. Book ahead rather than expecting a rank at the jetty.
Driving yourself
One sealed road runs from Dunwich to Point Lookout. About twenty minutes, and the last stretch along the coast is the best introduction to the island you could ask for.
That is the whole trip. Reception is at 21 Cumming Parade, Point Lookout.

Tell us which boat you are on
Check in is from 2.00pm and check out is by 9.30am. If you let us know your ferry departure time from Cleveland at least two days before you arrive, we can often offer an earlier check in.
If your boat gets in outside reception hours, call us 24 hours ahead and we will make arrangements for your key.
